Weaving the beauty of flowers

into urban spaces

An avid foodie, marketing specialist, outdoor lover and green fingered urban idealist who has lived and worked in The Netherlands since 2002. The roots of this blog sprouted from spending many hours of love cultivating what is now a small urban hide away, situated high above the city hustle bustle and noise of Amsterdam. My rooftop garden of only 27m² has become the perfect escape to enjoy a pitstop coffee, a peaceful place to watch the sunrise over the city or to host BBQ's with friends.

Rooftop spaces no matter how small are an invaluable city (dead) space that can be transformed (with love and care) from bare bricks, bland grey concrete, chimney tops, rickety roof tiles and bitumen lead flashing into a lush, rich biodiverse paradise. City garden revolutions are the way forward!

I’d struggled to find container gardening tips tailored especially for windy, hot sunny, dry rooftop conditions. This is how the wild urban began, born from a few simple research notes about what to plant, which containers to use and how to achieve maximum foliage on an exposed city rooftop. Any green roof large or small add a helping hand by filtering the city air, provide personal retreats, add extra habitat for wildlife and evergreen shrubs can even help to provide year-round noise reduction. It's all about how to weave wild life and plants into your city space, so I hope to provide some inspiration to show you that anything's possible with limited space.

Plants and flowers provide such a positive impulse and simply make the city a better healthier, prettier place to live in :)
